City Seeks Residents to Test New Website 10/15 & 10/19

On Thursday, October 15 and Monday, October 19, Somerville residents will have a chance to try out the newly developed www.SomervilleMA.gov. Volunteers will complete a 1-hour testing session at the Central Library, 79 Highland Ave. During the session, volunteers will be asked to find pieces of information on the website using a variety of devices, and then share their feedback on whether they were successful or not and how the process could have been better.

Kicking off with “Carnaval” along East Broadway, SomerStreets promotes active living, reconnecting with city neighborhoods

 

SOMERVILLE – SomerStreet: Carnaval returns for a 6th year of shaking up East Somerville! SomerStreets will kick off the 2015 season this Sunday, June 7, from noon to 4 p.m. (rain or shine).

The City of Somerville invites you to the "Carnaval @ SomerStreets" event this Sunday, June 7. Family-friendly programming and live entertainment will take place on Broadway from McGrath Highway to Pennsylvania Ave. between noon and 4 p.m. on Sunday, free of charge, and all are welcome.

In order to ensure public safety at the event, several road closures and parking bans will be in effect between McGrath Highway and Pennsylvania Ave.:

School St. Bridge Detour 6/9-6/14 (GLX Work)

Due to ongoing work on the School St. Bridge in preparation for the Green Line Extension, the bridge will be closed from 9 a.m. on Fri., June 12 through noon on Sun., June 14. During this time, pedestrians will still be able to access the entirety of School St., however vehicles will be detoured as follows:

Tufts to Hold Emergency Training Excercise Mon. 6/15

On Monday, June 15th, the university along with Somerville, Medford, and State public safety teams, will conduct a routine emergency preparedness training exercise. Starting at 7 a.m. police vehicles, ambulances, and fire engines will be deployed on and near campus. All activities will be simulated. They are not a response to an actual emergency. Emergency vehicles taking part in the training will not use lights or sirens when moving about, but may use them within the restricted exercise area.

Elm St. Closure from Dover St. to Russell St.

240 Elm Street Closure Update


Update: Fri., June 26, 2015

To prepare to reopen both lanes of Elm St., crews will need to fully close Elm St. on Saturday morning, June 27, between 4 a.m. and approximately 7 a.m. During this time, jersey barriers will be shifted to the parking lane in front of 240 Elm St. to create a temporary pedestrian walkway as construction continues.
