The Somerville Sunsetters are coming to a street near you! The Sunsetters, a traveling youth performance troupe that performs classic show tunes and modern musicals in Somerville neighborhoods throughout July and August, is still booking shows for the summer 2015 season. Performances are held Monday through Thursday evenings, 7 to 8 p.m., in July and August.

SOMERVILLE –Eighteen months after the City launched its comprehensive “war on rats” plan, Somerville is seeing encouraging signs that its policies are working—namely, a significant drop in reported rodent sightings.

Technical Advisory Committee to determine which developers will be interviewed by mid-June

SOMERVILLE – Eight bids for redevelopment of the Powder House Community School site are under review to determine which proposals meet objectives developed by the community and thus which developers will be interviewed by mid-June.

CITY SEEKS FULL CONVERSION OF PUBLIC LIGHTS TO LED

Energy-efficient LED lightbulbs in street, decorative and city building external lights would save estimated $450,000 annually, reduce CO2 emissions by 600 metric tons per year

The Somerville Arts Council and local art teacher and painter Crystal Burney invite Somerville youth to assist with the creation of a ground mural for the water fountain at the Trum Playground on Franey Road.  

Youth ages 7 and older who are interested in learning how to paint a mural will be welcomed to add a few of their own brush strokes to a new design located below the water fountain in the playground. Drop in for the following dates and times, and be sure to wear your play clothes!

On Wednesday, June 3 and Thursday, June 4, Somerville residents will have a chance to get a sneak peek at an early prototype of the all-new www.SomervilleMA.gov, and share their ideas to make it better. Volunteers will complete a 45 minute testing session at the Cummings School, 42 Prescott St. During the session, volunteers will be asked to find pieces of information on the website, and then share their feedback on whether they were successful or not and how the process could have been better.
