Proposed Zoning Overhaul Seeks to Implement SomerVision, Somerville by Design Goals

SOMERVILLE - Mayor Joseph Curtatone and the
Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development (OSPCD) announce the
formation of a Zoning Advisory Committee, a team of 20 individuals from a
variety of backgrounds, which will advise the Mayor and Planning Staff as they
seek to overhaul the Somerville Zoning Ordinance.  The team will serve as a sounding board as the
City develops strategies to develop the new Somerville by Design Zoning
Ordinance that will implement the goals of the SomerVision Comprehensive Plan.

Director of Economic Development and Disability Coordinator Join City as of April 1

Mr. Ed O'Donnell and Ms. Betsy Allen filling the positions of Director of

Program.  Available through April 30th,

Hubway ‘Opening Day’ to take place on Monday, April 8, 2013.

Joining
together two of the region's early signs of spring, Hubway and the Boston Red
Sox Foundation have teamed up to commemorate the bike share system's "Opening
Day" re-launch on April 8, 2013.  The
rolling relaunch celebration will feature Hubway team members circling Boston,
Cambridge, Somerville, and Brookline on a celebratory route.  Hubway members that greet the Hubway team
along this route will receive a free Boston Red Sox tee shirt and/or a free day

CITY TO HOST ELECTRONIC WASTE RECYCLING DAY APRIL 13th

SOMERVILLE - The City of Somerville will host an electronic
waste recycling event on Saturday, April 13th at the Department
of Public Works, 1 Franey Road, from 9:00am to noon. This event is open to Somerville
residents and businesses.

related to Wage Theft to the
Somerville Board of Aldermen for their consideration at their regular meeting
on Thursday, April 11th.   The proposed ordinance would include language
in the City's code of ordinances granting City boards and commissions, where

ALDERMEN TO DISCUSS COMMUNITY PRESERVATION ACT, SUBMIT RECOMMENDATIONS THIS WEEK

SOMERVILLE - At
the regular meeting of the Somerville Board of Aldermen on Thursday, April 11th,
Aldermen will discuss the Community Preservation Committee Ordinance, which had
been introduced by Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone on February 28th and referred to
the Committee on Legislative Matters following the passage of the Community
Preservation Act (CPA) by a local electorate on the 2012 ballot.  The CPA was passed by Massachusetts State
Legislature in 2000, and allows the City to raise funds for projects
