Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Scheduled for Friday, May 26, from 9 to 11a.m. at the Healey School
All are invited to join Somerville Mayor Katjana Ballantyne, Ward 4 City Councilor Jesse Clingan, and Interim School Superintendent Jeff Curley, to celebrate the official opening of the redesigned Healey Schoolyard and Joe Mackey Field. The ribbon cutting will take place on Friday, May 26, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Healey School, located at 5 Meecham Street.
Somerville Opens Engagement Center to Support Unhoused Community Members
City’s First Daytime Center Provides Wraparound Support Services for Unhoused Individuals
Mayor Katjana Ballantyne, in partnership with the Somerville Homeless Coalition, is announcing the recent opening of a new Engagement Center to support Somerville’s unhoused residents.
The Somerville Homeless Coalition (SHC) will operate the Engagement Center with federal American Rescue Plan Act funding provided by the City. This facility, open during the day when shelters frequently are not, allows clients to drop in on an as-needed basis and also enables Homeless Coalition staff to invite unsheltered clients to meet privately indoors.
Somerville City Council Traffic and Parking Committee Public Hearing on the Somerville Bike Network Plan, Wednesday, May 31, 6 p.m.
The Somerville City Council Traffic and Parking Committee will hold a virtual (online) public hearing on Wednesday, May 31, on the City of Somerville Bike Network Plan. The hearing will start at 6 p.m. Community members may submit testimony either at the hearing or in writing according to the details below.

The hearing will offer an opportunity for community members to share thoughts, ideas, and concerns about the Bike Network Plan.
