Highland Ave. (School St. to Central St.) Westbound Traffic Detour

Beginning on or around December 12, City contractors will begin working on subsurface utility improvements along Highland Ave.

During this phase of the project, Highland Ave. will be closed to westbound traffic between School St. and Central St. during work hours (7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays). The eastbound travel lane will be maintained as usual.

All businesses will remain open and accessible during construction.

Idea Submission for Somerville's Participatory Budgeting Process Ends Tomorrow 5/20

All ideas for Somerville's first-ever Participatory Budgeting process are due by end of day Saturday, May, 20, 2023. This is also the deadline for residents interested in becoming a Budget Delegate volunteer to submit their applications.

Volunteers Sought for Patriots’ Day Celebration & Colonial Fair at Foss Park April 17

Help celebrate Paul Revere’s famous ride from Boston to Lexington and Somerville’s revolutionary history by volunteering to be a part of Somerville’s Patriot’s Day festivities. The City is seeking volunteers to help publicize and support activities at the Colonial Fair on Monday, April 17, at Foss Park, which follows a reenactment of Revere’s ride. Both adults and Somerville students are welcome to sign up.

Virtual Meeting Will Share Overview and Anticipated Timeline for Construction of Stormwater Pump Station on Poplar Street

Mayor Katjana Ballantyne and Ward Two Councilor J.T. Scott invite the community to a virtual meeting on Monday, March 27, at 6 p.m. to learn about the City’s construction of a stormwater pump station at 10 Poplar Street. Work on the pump station is expected to begin this spring and to continue through 2025.
