Somerville Mayor Curtatone, Board of Health Issue Residential and Commercial Eviction Moratorium
Showing of Rental Units Also Ordered to Cease; City Council Passes Resolutions in Support of Both Measures; Call Issued for Rent Support, Rent Freeze, and Statewide Eviction and Foreclosure Moratorium
On Saturday, March 28, Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone and the Somerville Board of Health announced an Emergency Order Establishing a Moratorium on Eviction Enforcement in the City of Somerville for the duration of the COVID-19 emergency. The order, which applies to both residential and commercial evictions and goes into effect immediately, prohibits the physical act of eviction within the city limits so as to provide for the health, safety and stability of those who live in and serve our community.
Somerville’s Bridge Hopper Shuttles to Suspend Service Starting April 1
The Somerville Bridge Hopper, the City’s free shuttle service to help residents navigate Green Line Extension construction detours, will suspend operations effective April 1, 2020, until further notice.
The Bridge Hopper shuttles have served riders near both the Broadway and Washington Street bridges since April 2019. This suspension is intended to preserve the public health and safety of shuttle drivers and passengers during the COVID-19 crisis.

Mayor Curtatone's Statement on Somerville's First Coronavirus-Related Death (April 2, 2020)
Tragically, this morning we got word of the first coronavirus-related death in Somerville. My first thoughts go out to the family and friends of the deceased. Words cannot encompass the pain of your loss, but know that I share your grief. I suspect everyone else in the city will be joining me as they hear this news. Even though we're all socially distanced from each other, thousands of people will be feeling the sadness of your loss in their hearts.
Somerville Deadline for Paying Property Taxes, Some Bills Extended; Public Events and Large Gatherings Canceled Through June
Today Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone announced that residents and property owners will have extra time to pay their property tax, excise tax, and water bills. He also announced that all City-sponsored or permitted public events and large gatherings will be canceled in Somerville through June, including the City’s annual Fourth of July fireworks.

Somerville Expands 311 Services With New COVID-19 Community Support Team
Expert, Trained Volunteers to Provide COVID-19 Health and Human Service Support via Virtual 311 Call Center. From Quarantine Guidance to Unemployment Access to Pothole Repairs: For 311 in Somerville, It’s Still “One Call to City Hall”
Today the City of Somerville’s 311 Constituent Services Division launched a new initiative to provide constituents with access to one-on-one expert guidance during the COVID-19 public health crisis.
The COVID-19 Community Support Team, an extension of 311 Constituent Services, is made up of more than 20 volunteers with specialized knowledge and expertise in healthcare and/or social support services available to people and businesses affected by the pandemic.
Mayor Curtatone Calls for Face Coverings in All Places of Business and Public Areas
All members of the public above the age of 2 urged to wear a face covering when outside their homes in order to prevent transmission of the coronavirus.
