SOMERVILLE – Somerville has gained national recognition as an innovation hub, thanks to our local entrepreneurs and to smart growth technologies and companies who increasingly make Somerville their home. With the City now poised for even more exciting growth and opportunity, Mayor Joseph Curtatone has established a new advisory committee that will take a broad approach to supporting innovation and entrepreneurship. The Innovation and Opportunity Lab, which is currently seeking members, aims to advance Somerville’s local innovation economy and support budding entrepreneurs.

SOMERVILLE – The City of Somerville’s ambitious 20-year SomerVision plan aims to realize numerous community-driven goals, and to help realize those public aims, the City is looking to public-private partnerships, known as P3’s, as a potential tool. To start the process, the City, in coordination with a team of consultants from the firm of Burns & Levinson, presented a range of capital projects and innovation infrastructure priorities to government officials and potential private partners at the City-hosted July 20th P3 Showcase at Partners Healthcare in Somerville.

City's Bond Rating Rises Yet Again in Strong Report from Moody's
Somerville’s bond rating continues its streak of upgrades; Rises to highest ever rating based on City’s strong financial practices, growing economy, healthy reserve levels, diverse tax base, manageable current and projected debt levels
SOMERVILLE – Moody’s has raised the City of Somerville’s bond rating from the City’s highest ever rating, Aa2, to a new high of Aa1, the second highest rating on the agency’s scale and one step from the Aaa rating. In its report, the bond rating agency cited the City’s healthy financial position, strong financial practices, conservative budget management, robust and growing economy, diverse tax base, and healthy reserves.
