SOMERVILLE – The Somerville Public Library is pleased to announce that the latest book discussion in its “Muslim Journeys” will take place on Thursday, July 17 at 7 p.m. with a discussion of Terry Alford’s book, Prince Among Slaves at the Central Branch, 79 Highland Avenue. The series is free and open to the public.

Somerville Police have arrested the person they believe to be responsible for the July 4th robbery of an elderly woman in Somerville. On July 10, 2014, Jarone McKinney of Berkshire Street, Cambridge, Massachusetts, was taken into custody without incident by the Boston Police and formally placed under arrest by the Somerville Police.

ArtBeat 2014 Road Closure Information
The City’s of Somerville's annual ArtBeat Festival will take place
this Friday evening and Saturday in Davis Square. The festival will
begin Friday evening, July 18, from 6 to 10 p.m. with live music in
Seven Hills Park. All roads will remain open on Friday. On Saturday,
July 19 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., craft vendors, live music on several
stages, and local artists will set up throughout Davis Square. The
events are free, though a small donation is suggested. For
Saturday’s festival, several road closures and detours will apply as
follows:
