Central Street between Summer Street and Highland Avenue to Become One-Way (Northbound) for Vehicle Traffic on Monday, June 17 or Soon After
Change will precede construction of streetscape improvements including new sidewalks, cycle tracks in each direction, and new tree plantings.
Beginning on Monday, June 17 or soon after, the segment of Central Street between Summer Street and Highland Avenue will become a permanently one-way northbound (travel from Summer St. north toward Highland Ave.) street for vehicle traffic.
This change will facilitate the implementation of a new design and construction of streetscape improvements on Central Street (Summer St. to Highland Ave.).

Mayor Katjana Ballantyne and the Somerville Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development (OSPCD), in partnership with 717-719 Washington St, LLC, are pleased to announce an income-restricted rental opportunity of two (2) 2-bedroom apartments.
Located at 205 Beacon St in the Cobble Hill neighborhood, these apartments will be available to income-eligible households with a combined annual gross income at or below 50% of the Area Median Income (AMI) and 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI).
Somerville Community Invited to Immigrant Workers’ Rights Fair on Saturday, June 8
Mayor Katjana Ballantyne, Somerville’s SomerViva Office of Immigrant Affairs, and the Somerville Worker Center, in partnership with the Brazilian Worker Center and the Brazilian Women’s Group, are announcing a free immigrant workers’ rights fair on Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Somerville Worker Center located at 530 Mystic Ave, Suite 111.
The fair will feature two workers’ rights presentations, one at 11:30 a.m. in Spanish and one at 1:30 p.m. in Portuguese.
