The 2022/23 Somerville Teen Shoveling Program, a paid opportunity for teens to help local seniors and homeowners with disabilities after a snowstorm, is currently accepting applications.

The program is available for teens aged 13 to 19 years old. All interested teens must submit an application. Teens aged 18 or 19 must also submit a CORI form. 

Because this winter begins in an even-numbered year, snow emergency parking will be on the even side of the street all winter, unless posted signage says differently. Check street signs in your neighborhood so you know where you can park ahead of winter weather. You can also learn more about the City’s snow policies at somervillema.gov/snow.

Mayor Katjana Ballantyne and the City of Somerville Housing Division are pleased to announce two affordable rental opportunities: one 4-bedroom unit at 126 Cross St. and one 2-bedroom unit at 29 Alpine St. Income-eligible households with a combined gross income at or below 50% of the Median Family Income (Cross St.) or between 81% and 110% of the Median Family Income (Alpine St.) will be eligible to apply.

Mayor Katjana Ballantyne’s administration is leveraging funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to expand City youth services and grow the City’s Office of Housing Stability (OHS). Both areas of focus are designed to address significant pandemic impacts to the community.
