The Fire Suppression Division, commonly referred to as the Firefighting Division, has the awesome responsibility of protecting the public from fire as well as many other types of emergencies. Besides fires, the response to medical aid requests and vehicle accidents constitutes a large portion of the daily response activity.

Applying for a Grant

Applying for grants in the City of Somerville is a collaborative process. No single individual or department makes the decision to apply for a grant—it is always a team approach with many parties helping to determine whether pursuing a grant is in the best interest of the City and its constituents. The grants that the City of Somerville does apply for generally work toward the following goals:

Throughout the month of May, the Somerville Museum partners with the City of Somerville and members of the community to host events honoring Somerville’s history.
