About the Human Services Division - Supportive Services

The Human Services Division of the City of Somerville Department of Health and Human Services provides a variety of supportive services to the Somerville Community to promote health and well-being. These are available at no cost to Somerville residents of all ages. 

Services Include:

Information and Referral Services, Including:

Supportive Counseling for Youth, Individuals, and Families

  • This includes connections and referrals to supportive counseling services.

Educational and Support Groups

  • These are topic-based sessions in areas of interest to the community. 

Mental Health Services

  • Referrals will be made to external mental health service providers. 

Utility and Benefit Assistance

  • This includes programs such as SNAP, reduced utility rates, RAFT, etc.

Youth Services

  • Referrals will be made to the Youth Services Division (areas include teen employment, career readiness workshops, snow shoveling program, etc.).

Housing Support

  • Referrals will be made to City departments (Housing and the Office of Housing Stability) and external agencies.

Workforce Development 

  • Referrals will be made to City departments (Economic Development, and Human Resources) and external agencies.

Financial Literacy 

  • Referrals will be made to external agencies.

Legal Assistance

  • Referrals will be made to City departments (SomerViva Office of Immigrant Affairs) and external agencies.

Survivor Services

  • Referrals will be made to external agencies.

Health Services

  • Referrals will be made to City departments and external agencies.

Literacy and Language Development 

  • Referrals will be made to City departments (SomerPromise, Somerville Family Learning Collaborative, Somerville Public Libraries, etc.) and external agencies.

Public Health Services

  • Referrals will be made to HHS Public Health Nursing Division and external agencies.

Brief Case Management

  • This includes up to 3 visits with Case Manager, application assistance, uploading of documents, etc.

Referrals for services may be completed by individuals directly seeking services, parents or guardians, service providers, or community partners.  Please complete the online contact form below to complete the request.
