New Passenger Drop-Off, Pickup Zones Established in Davis Square

SOMERVILLE ā€“ In an effort to increase safety in one of Somervilleā€™s busiest areas, new street signs are up and five spaces across Davis Square are now designated as passenger drop-off and pickup only zones. REMINDER: City Pairs Youth with Seniors, Persons with Disabilities for Assistance with Snow Shoveling

The City of Somerville is looking for Somerville teens to pair with residents in need of shoveling assistance during upcoming snow storms. Additionally, Somerville senior citizens and residents with disabilities may contact us to be added to the list. Teens and residents in need of assistance will be paired by the City, which has also arranged a payment structure depending on the residentsā€™ needs. However, payment is handled independently between the resident and the teen with whom they areā€¦

Somerville Non-profit CASPAR, Inc. Chosen to Receive 5kW Solar Array Donation from Cityā€™s install partner SolarFlair

Somerville Office of Veteransā€™ Services Partners with Fisher College Student Veterans for ā€œAdopt-a-Service Memberā€ Campaign

For 11 Years Fisher College has adopted a service member overseas and in their honor, the Fisher community has come together to assemble care packages to send to our troops overseas. This year, the Somerville Office of Veteransā€™ Services joins the Fisher College Student Veteransā€™ Organization to collect items to send to our troops. POSTPONED: Community Path Repairs (Buena Vista Rd. to Cambridge Line)

The City of Somervilleā€™s Engineering Department announced this week that construction previously scheduled to begin in November for the Community Path, between Buena Vista Rd. and the Cambridge line, will be postponed until 2018.   The project will repair drainage systems in that area to address recurring flooding issues and to improve safety.   When the start of work is rescheduled, additional notification will be provided.
