Saturday, May 7th: “Jane’s Walk” to honor urban activist and writer, Jane Jacobs. A worldwide event, this year’s Somerville walk will be a leisurely stroll through Union Square to explore its evolving local economies, from agriculture and industry in the 18th and 19th century, to retail shopping in the early 20th , to today’s mix of retail and creative businesses. Guides will be an eclectic mix of local leaders. Meet in front of Bloc 11 at 11 Bow Street at 10 am for this 90 minute walking tour. Rain or shine. For more information, go to www.janeswalkusa.org.
