About the Tufts Street Reconstruction Project

The City of Somerville is planning to reconstruct sidewalks and repave Tufts Street. With this opportunity, we aim to redesign the street to improve safety for all community members traveling the street.

On July 11, the City shared an updated design for the street which includes:

  • utilizes street pinch points for traffic calming
  • adds landscaped areas and new trees
  • provides a few locations for multipurpose parking options
  • transforms the white wall into a wall mural
  • and adds a “Neighborway Gateway” at Glen Street

For more information about the project, visit somervillema.gov/tuftsstreet.
