Join the Somerville Public Library and MIRA to learn about the U.S. citizenship process and interview experience from a new U.S. Citizen, Maryna.  

Maryna moved to the United States alone from Belarus and applied for political asylum based on toxic poetry that criticized the government and the restrictions on practicing her native Belarusian language.  She is a published author and poet, and received a Master’s degree in Conflict Resolution from Northeastern University.  She is currently an AmeriCorps member at the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA) and became a U.S. Citizen last year.  Registration is required.
