About Youth Services
The Youth Services team promotes and fosters the development of resilient, prepared and engaged Somerville Teens so that they can thrive.
The division accomplishes this by creating opportunities for youth to:
- Explore career pathways and gain meaningful work experience: Youth Services Team hires youth as part of the Mayor’s Summer Jobs Program, offers school-year employment in partnership with City departments, and facilitates career workshops for teens.
- Connect with and access the city's resources and services: The Youth Services Team designs and facilitates workshops based on interests and needs of youth in the community and connects them with other city-wide resources and supports.
- Use their voice in city-level decision making: The Youth Services Team collaborates with city departments and community groups to identify opportunities for youth input and connect decision-makers with young people.
