Final Water Bills

When the ownership of a residential or commercial property is scheduled to change, the City of Somerville Water and Sewer Department generates what is known as a Final Bill for the property. The Water Department will conduct a final water meter reading for the property, typically one day prior to the scheduled closing date. Based on this meter reading, the Final Bill is generated.

In order to receive a Final Bill, the Water & Sewer Department requires the Final Water Bill Request Form application to be filed at least three (3) business days before the closing date. The fee for the Final Bill is $25.00.  The Final Bill form can found at the link below.

Once complete, the final bill will be emailed to the applicant. Once the final bill is paid in full, the Water Department will change the billing information to reflect the new owner’s information.

A new water meter is required to process a final Water and Sewer bill. If the meter has not been recently replaced, you must schedule the replacement with Mass Installation Inc. prior to submitting a final Water and Sewer bill request.
