Statement from Mayor Ballantyne on Arrest of MA Resident Accused of Making Antisemitic Threats Online

The arrest in Beverly underscores the urgent need to confront antisemitism and highlights the critical importance of vigilance in preventing regional threats that endanger the safety of our communities.

I have spoken with Chief Benford, who is in contact with both the Beverly Police and our federal partners, to monitor any potential threats or concerns for our area. At at this time, SPD has identified no credible threats to Somerville. We remain aligned in our commitment to deploying all necessary resources to protect our residents and stand united with our neighbors against antisemitism.
