Somerville PD Officer Suffers Non-Life-Threatening Injury Due to Unintentional Discharge of Duty Weapon

A Somerville Police Officer suffered a non-life-threatening injury via an unintentional discharge of the officer’s duty weapon causing injury.    

The incident occurred at approximately 4 p.m. on April 6, 2022. The injured officer was transported to an area hospital where the Officer was treated and released. The officer is expected to make a full recovery.  No one else was injured. 

"The officer's firearm was holstered at the time of the discharge," said Somerville Police Chief Charles Femino. The Somerville Police Department is conducting an internal investigation into the matter.
