Somerville Housing Authority Board of Commissioners Seeks One Member

The Somerville Housing Authority (SHA) Board of Commissioners seeks one new member, and all Somerville residents are invited to apply. This position does not have to be filled by an SHA resident, but SHA residents are encouraged to apply. Boards and commissions offer an opportunity for residents with a range of experience, skills, expertise, and perspectives to share their talents and insights with their community.

The SHA Board of Commissioners sets and revises policies for the housing authority, establishes annual budgets, ensures the housing authority is in compliance with state and federal laws, adopts and revises bylaws, and supports SHA operations. 

The Board of Commissioners meets once a month and occasionally holds special meetings. Annual stipends for Commissioners range from $8,000 to $10,000 and are paid quarterly. This position is appointed by the Mayor.
