Somerville Hosting Reflection on the Anniversary of 2010 Earthquake in Haiti

City of Somerville and the Missionary Church of the Haitian Community will host a reflection and resiliency event on January 12, 2023, at the Missionary Church of the Haitian Community

The Somerville Office of Immigrant Affairs and the Missionary Church of the Haitian Community will host a reflection on the thirteenth anniversary of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti on January 12, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Missionary Church of the Haitian Community (100 Temple Street, Somerville, MA, 02145).  

The event offers a space to reflect on and remember Haiti's devastating 2010 earthquake and to affirm the resiliency of the Haitian community and culture. Journalist and sociologist Jean-Samuel Trezil will deliver a keynote address, and the event will also include music and dance performances, food, and remarks from the Somerville Office of Immigrant Affairs and Department of Racial and Social Justice, as well as community partners.  

The event is free and open to all who wish to join. Interpretation into English and Haitian Creole will be provided. Interpretation into additional languages may be requested by emailing somerviva@somervillema.gov , or by calling 311 at 617-666-3311.
