Somerville Historic Preservation Commission Releases Revised Events Schedule for 2019
With the annual Historic Preservation Month (May) events behind us, the Somerville Historic Preservation Commission (SHPC) announced this week a revised schedule for spring events that were postponed due to inclement weather, as well as a revised schedule for Docent Tours of the Prospect Hill Tower, the Old Power House, and the Milk Row Cemetery. Rescheduled events will be held as follows:
Jane’s Walk: Somerville’s Winter Hill and Gilman Square, Past and Present.
WHEN: Saturday, June 8, 10 a.m. – noon
WHERE: Begin at 425 Broadway, continuing to Gilman Square. Refreshments at Winter Hill Brewery (free small) and Tipping Cow Ice Cream (discounted).

Walking Tour: East Somerville’s Tucked Away Architectural Treasures.
WHEN: Sunday, June 16, 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.
WHERE: Meet at Mudflat Studios, 81 Broadway. End at Holiday Inn for refreshments.
MORE INFO: Ed Gordon, President of the New England Chapter of the Victorian Society in America, will lead a walking tour of historic buildings and landscapes already undergoing changes.
Film Screening of “Citizen Jane: Battle for the City.”
WHEN: Wednesday, June 26, 7:30 – 9:30 p.m.
WHERE: Remnant Brewing, Bow Market (outdoors)
MORE INFO: The film highlights why Jane Jacobs is widely acclaimed for her visionary activism, enabling residents to successfully challenge a major highway project through New York City in the 1960s.
