Somerville Commission for Persons with Disabilities Seeks Four Members

The Somerville Commission for Persons with Disabilities (SCPD) seeks four new members, and Somerville residents are encouraged to apply. Three of the openings must be filled by people who identify as having a disability and one is open to any Somerville resident who is a family member of a person with a disability. Members must be residents of Somerville at the time of appointment. Boards and commissions offer an opportunity for residents with a range of experience, skills, expertise, and perspectives to share their talents and insights with their community.
The SCPD coordinates and carries out programs to meet the needs of people with disabilities. Additionally, commissioners provide information, review policies, and make recommendations on issues affecting people with disabilities.
Commissioners must be current residents of Somerville and able to commit to at least five hours of service per month. The SCPD meets every second Tuesday of the month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Applicants are confirmed by the City Council. This is a volunteer position.
