Somerville Announces Municipal Scholarships for High School Graduates

Five Scholarships Available for Somerville Residents Graduating High School in 2023

Mayor Katjana Ballantyne is proud to announce that Somerville residents graduating high school in 2023 can now apply for five municipal scholarships through the City of Somerville Municipal Scholarship Committee. Selected applicants will receive $1,000 to help with post-secondary education expenses.

"We are thrilled to offer these scholarships to our graduating seniors as they continue their educations and prepare for their futures,” said Mayor Ballantyne. “We hope that these scholarships help students bring the spirit of the Somerville community with them, no matter where their journey goes.”

The municipal scholarships are open to all high school seniors who live in Somerville and have been accepted to an accredited post-secondary institution at the time the financial aid is first awarded.

To apply, students are asked to create a profile and answer three short essay questions via the City’s Dollars for Scholars page: cityofsomerville.dollarsforscholars.org

Scholarships will be awarded based on academic achievement, community service, and financial need. Applications are due by April 28, 2023, and recipients will be announced May 15, 2023. The scholarship funds will be distributed to the winners in early June.
