School Street Bridge Reopens Saturday, December 10
Ahead of the Green Line Extension opening next week, the School Street bridge in Somerville’s Gilman Square is expected to reopen to all users this Saturday, December 10. The bridge has been closed since April 2020 to support GLX construction.
When the bridge reopens, Montrose Street will revert to one-way westbound traffic. Drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians should proceed with caution while navigating the new traffic pattern. Schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
Passenger service on the Medford Branch of the Green Line begins on Monday, December 12. The City thanks all residents for their patience throughout bridge closures, detours, and other disruptions in order to make this historic transit expansion possible.
Individuals with disabilities who need auxiliary aids and services for effective communication, written materials in alternative formats, or reasonable modifications in policies and procedures, in order to access the programs and activities of the City or to attend meetings, should contact the City’s ADA Coordinator, Adrienne Pomeroy, at 617-625-6600 x2059 or apomeroy@somervillema.gov.
