Public Event License Applications Due July 2 for Summertime Events in Somerville

Planning an event in Somerville this summer? Take note: Public Event license applications for events before Labor Day must be submitted online by Friday, July 2. Doing so ensures adequate processing time for the application to be submitted to the City Council before its summer recess begins at the conclusion of its meeting on July 8.

A Public Event license is required for any event that would close or physically occupy a public sidewalk, square, park, school playground, or other area; travel through a public space; or significantly affect nearby residents or public spaces. This includes block parties, public performances, parades, and road races, among others. There is no charge for a Public Event license.

Applications should be submitted through the City’s CitizenServe portal at somervillema.gov/CitizenServe. Questions may be directed to the City Clerk at cityclerk@somervillema.gov
