MAYOR AND HIGH SCHOOL GSA TO RAISE PRIDE FLAG 5/29
Community members invited to celebrate Pride Month with Flag Raising on City Hall concourse.
SOMERVILLE – Please join Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone and the Somerville
High School Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) on Thursday, May 29, to raise
the Pride flag in honor of LGBT Pride Month. The ceremony will take
place at 2:45 p.m. on the City Hall concourse, 93 Highland Ave. Mayor
Curtatone, City LGBT Liaison Elizabeth Field, and a representative from
GSA will speak at the event.
Last year more than 60 people, including students, school staff, elected
officials, City staff, and community members attended the flag raising -
twice as many as attended in 2012. This event is a way to show support
for Somerville’s LGBT community, especially its students. 2014 will mark
the 14th annual Pride flag raising event in Somerville.
