Join the Somerville Human Rights Commission

The Human Rights Commission seeks five members, and Somerville residents are welcome to apply. The Human Rights commissions shall work toward mutual respect and understanding among all individuals and groups in the city by improving the quality of public discourse and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The Human Rights Commission works collaboratively with the City’s Racial and Social Justice Commission coordinator, who also serves as the staff liaison.
- Commitment to the HRC is showing up to scheduled meetings and events.
- Completing tasks and duties on time.
- Commissioners must commit time to research issues in the city of Somerville. The estimated time of service is 5 hours a month.
- Seat one has an expiration date of December 31, 2027, with the option for reappointment for a full two-year term.
- Seat four has an expiration date of December 31, 2006 appointment for a three-year term.
- Seat seven has an expiration date of December 31, 2027, with an option for reappointment for a three-year term.
- Seat eight has an expiration date of December 31, 2025 appointment for a three-year term.
- Seat nine has an expiration date of December 31, 2026 appointment for a three-year term.
