Join the Somerville Commission for Women

The Somerville Commission for Women (SCW) seeks five members, and Somerville residents are encouraged to apply. Openings must be filled by people who believe in and support the equal status of women in society and the implementation of the aims of the Equal Rights Amendment. The SCW works collaboratively with the City’s Racial and Social Justice Commissions Coordinator, who also serves as the staff liaison.

The SCW serves as a centralizing force in the City of Somerville and the community which will deal with all women’s issues providing information, referral, guidance, and more to public agencies and organizations engaged in activities and programs intended to eliminate prejudice and discrimination against women because of their status as women or minority women.

  • Commissioners must be able to commit to at least five hours of service per month.
