City of Somerville Sharing Potential Impact of Water System Maintenance by the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority

The City of Somerville is sharing that upcoming routine valve maintenance by the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) may cause instances of discolored water in the community. The valve maintenance is part of the MWRA’s normal activities and will occur throughout February.

Residents and businesses that experience discolored water are asked to run their faucets until the water runs clear, which can take up to ten minutes.

For more information, please read the MWRA announcement at: mwra.com/01news/2024/013124-notice-valves.html

Community members can also get more information, and report any concerns about water and sewer service, by dialing 311 (617-666-3311 outside Somerville), or emailing water@somervillema.gov.
