Thank you to all the participants and spectators who made the 2024 City of Somerville Memorial Day Parade a success. Please take a few moments to share your experience with the parade this year so we can make next year's event even more enjoyable.

Somerville Veterans Services organizes the City's Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony annually as a tribute to those who lost their lives defending the United States. The parade draws more than 80 groups and is followed by the City of Somerville Memorial Day Ceremony.  

2024 Schedule

Sunday, May 26, 2024 
(no rain date)

11am: Step Off at Davis Square (Somerville)

Monday, May 27th: Memorial Day Ceremony 10am at Somerville Veterans Cemetery

 

Parade Route

The Parade will begin at the Davis Square Rotary (9/11 Memorial Granite Circle Site) up Holland Street then proceed to Broadway/Teele Square and end at Broadway & North Street. There will also be a ceremony on Monday, May 27th. More information to follow.


Parking & Transit

The City of Somerville recommends parade goers use public transportation. You can take the MBTA’s red line to Davis Square, where the Somerville Memorial Day Parade begins.  
 

Watch The Parade

The ceremony will be livestreamed on the CityTV Facebook page (facebook.com/SomervilleCityTV) and broadcast after the event on GovTV (RCN channels 13 or 613; Comcast channel 22) and on the City’s YouTube channel (youtube.com/SomervilleCityTV).

ADA Accessibility Information
There will be 4 temporary ADA Accessible parking spots on Winter Street near the parade start location.
The ADA-accessible viewing platform for the parade will be at Statue Park. Parking spots and space on the platform are first come, first served.
There will be ADA-accessible public toilets at the beginning and end of the parade route.
 

Remembrance Ceremony

This year’s Memorial Day Ceremony will be held on Monday, May 27th 2024, 10am at Somerville Veterans Cemetery.
 

Volunteer

Somerville Veterans’ Services is looking for volunteers for a variety of tasks.
 


Register Your Group

Marching bands, color guards, marchers and walkers, vehicles with riders, motorcycles, and dance and drill teams are invited to register to participate in the 2024 Somerville Memorial Day Parade.

Programs & Initiatives

If you are a business, consultant, or non-profit that may be able to support Somerville’s business community, we encourage you to respond to our Request for Information (RFI).
Members will develop a recommendation to the Mayor on both the location and scope of a renovated or new school to meet the needs of the Winter Hill Community Innovation School and potentially the Benjamin G. Brown School.
